Finding a parking spot is one of the most frustrating parts of daily life. Whether at a grocery store, gym, or even school, parking often feels like nothing more than a nuisance.
Fortunately for students at Lincoln Charter, we do not have to waste time circling in a sea of cars for a spot. Instead, we sign up for designated parking spots at the end of each year. While this might seem like a better option, it hasn’t been without problems.

In fact, this year students have faced a fresh new set of obstacles. Most notably being the construction material that has taken up residence in a section of the parking lot.
When being asked about the presence of the construction materials, Mr. McCorkle gave insight that the construction is from the turfing and painting of the soccer field. Although the construction is for a good cause, almost forty people have been displaced from their designated parking spots. This construction has had many unforeseen consequences as well, most notably parking spots being stolen by other students.

However, there is still hope that the victims of stolen spots will get their parking spaces back one day, and Mr. McCorkle has expressed that day might be soon.
With construction materials disappearing each day, Mr. McCorkle states, "Currently there are three spots being occupied by construction, so I am working on an email to send all those students back to their parking and we will put the three people that did not get their parking back in another spot until everything is figured out."
Additionally, Mr. McCorkle shared additional hopes for the paving of the gravel parking lot. "My goal for the gravel parking lot is to get it paved. It is something I have been asking for a couple years," Mr. McCorkle states, "We're getting closer but we're not there yet." This news is music to the ears of many students who have had their cars dusty or scratched from the gravel lot.

Despite all of the parking issues and headaches, it has highlighted Mr. McCorlke's commitment to finding solutions and his desire to help his students. He states, "I try to keep the gravel as pristine and great-looking as possible."
With plans in place and new ideas on the way, students can feel confident that parking at Lincoln Charter will only get easier from here.
